The SunCrest Information Center was the site for the January 21st TallWoods Subdivision Estate Home Site Lot lottery, attended by many of the prospective lot buyers. The reservation holders consisted of prospective home owners, Custom Home Builders, and many current SunCrest residents, who originally purchased smaller homes years ago,now wishing to stay at SunCrest and build their dream home. As a policy, SunCrest does not allow speculators or investors to enter into their lot purchase programs. “Frankly we struggled to make the process as fair as possible,“ commented Angela Flint, the Manager of the Sales and Information Center. All the reservations were assigned a number, the numbers were drawn out of a hat (so to speak) and the order in which they were drawn, determined the selection priority that reservation number received.
“SunCrest properties are in high demand, not only custom home lots, but our Select Builder inventories,as well“ said Curt Dowdle, director of sales and marketing. At the time of our drawing, we had over 155 reservations with deposits for the 58 lots that will eventually be released in TallWoods. We have several other custom home site subdivisions in for approval with Draper City; hopefully, we‘ll see the much anticipated new phases of Deer Ridge released this summer as well.
Select Builders at SunCrest are those builders that buy groups of lots/subdivisions and build and sell their version of the American Dream. Similar to the anticipation our custom lot buyers have waiting for Deer Ridge III, our Select Builders are anxiously awaiting their allocation of new inventories of homesites in Lakeview, SouthField, Eagle Ridge, South Landing and Eagles Point, says Dowdle. Selecting a home and home site from a SunCrest Select Builders is a little unique from other areas. As a result of the high demand, it often it requires a pre-selection of lots by the prospective buyer, then waiting until the subdivision becomes a reality..but the concensus from the homeowners is that the wait was well worth it. “A common complaint I hear from the resale market Realtors now is that the SunCrest homes resell before they have the opportunity to show the properties to their clients,” says Dawn Berbert one of the staff at the SunCrest Information Center. A common theme you hear from SunCrest is that It Just Keeps Getting Better.
SunCrest is a Master Planned Community that is less than 25% built; with 80% of the community situated in Utah County on the much heralded Highland Foothills. Boy, it‘s a tough choice as to which is the better view; South, over Utah Lake to Mount Timpanogus and Mt. Nebo or North ove r the Great Salt Lake and the Wasatch Front, comments Dowdle; either way, it‘s a win/win. It is a unique situation, as the South Slope of SunCrest is in Utah County yet still within the boundaries of Draper City. As a result, Draper City provides the typical municipal services, including fire, police, garbage collection, and street maintenance although that section of SunCrest is in Utah County.
