It Just Keeps Getting Better At SunCrest

Advetorial November 2005

SunCrest is “abuzz“ with excitement as the holidays draw near. The Village Green Park and Information Center have been decked out in their Christmas lights, and the Christmas tree is decorated and awaiting the Holiday Open House scheduled for Saturday, December 3rd at the SunCrest Information Center. Of course, Mr. & Mrs. Claus wouldn‘t pass up an opportunity to stop by and see the “SunCrest Kids“ and their guests and friends. The festivities will include horse and carriage rides, carolers andrefreshments.

This festivity follows close on the heels of a perennial favorite at SunCrest; the Halloween “Trunk or Treat.“ “I‘ve never seen so many SUVs in one place,“commented Angela Flint, of the SunCrest Staff, and the event promoter. The vehicles parked in alarge circle in the Information Center overflow parking lot, opened their rear tailgates offered treats. The “SunCrest Kids“ were outfitted head to toe in wonderful costumes and haunted their neighbors and friends for treats at this annual event. A photographer and judge of the costumes said after the party that all of the residents commented how they loved living at SunCrest. “It has the feeling of a very exclusive club where the residents feel like members.“

“Above it all-is a common saying you hear at SunCrest“ comments Curt Dowdle, SunCrest Director of Sales and Marketing. Not only an advertising moniker, but a way of life at SunCrest says Dowdle. Recently there have been major announcements in the immediate area regarding commercial and retail developments. “We are thrilled about the major retail announcements at Traverse Mountain and the planned Ikea Furniture retail center in Draper obviously, the market research that these major retailers employ show the desirability and affluence of the Draper/SunCrest area. It‘s best of both worlds“ says Dowdle: This gives our residents the immediate access to those facilities and their conveniences, but as the saying goes “SunCrest is above it all.“ Despite the fact that SunCrest is only five minutes from I-15, with immediate convenience to both Salt Lake and Utah Counties, the residents enjoy a serene, blessed isolation from the noise, traffic and congestion that typically accompanies major retail centers.

Another exciting development that recently occurred is the opening of the Bangerter Parkway that is the new roadway extension from the Bangerter Exit (#289) off I-15 that connects directly across Highland Drive to Traverse Ridge Road leading directly to SunCrest. The completion of that new road by Draper City gives residents of SunCrest an improved convenient ingress/egress to I-15. This direct access to I-15 shortens the drive up to SunCrest by about one mile from the North, and eliminates the bottleneck that would occasionally occur at the previous exit, given the growth of South Mountain and SunCrest.

But, undoubtedly the most anticipated event of this year, is the start of construction of the SunCrest Club. This recreation center has been in the planning stages for the past year, and preliminary construction activity is planned for the near future. “Terrabrook always takes great pride in developing the best quality facilities possible“ comments Mr. Ed Grampp, Terrabrook‘s Vice President and General Manager at SunCrest. “We have spared no expense in research, design and development of this one of a kind facility.“ Plans for this multi- million dollar facility include a two story 7,000 ft. recreation building, large swimming pool including a “lazy river“ and water slides, two hot-tubs, oversize deck areas, and a complete refrigerated ice skating rink during the winter months, doubling as a basketball court in the summer.

As soon as building permits are obtained, ground will be broken, with completion scheduled for late next year. The facility has been designed by JSA Architecture and the contract for construction has been granted to Heil Contractors of Heber City, Utah. The selection of architects/designers and contractor was determined by their experience and track-record for this type of facility; these people stand head and shoulders above their competitors, according to Mr. Grampp. The SunCrest Club facility will be directly south of the existing SunCrest information center and adjacent to the SunCrest Market. The facility is designed to be a community focal point, and will provide year-round activities for the residents. Whether residents want to pump iron while watching their children swim in summer or ice skate in the winter, they can do that or enjoy a leisurely soak in one of the hot-tubs. Two kitchens in the Club will provide year-round refreshments to those residents enjoying the various activities. SunCrest: literally a community whose “time has come”and it just keeps getting better.

SunCrest Information Center is found by exiting #289 from I-15, then following the Bangerter Expressway east to the top of the Traverse Mountain. The Information Center is open Monday through Saturday 10:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M., Sundays 12:00 to 5:30 P.M. 553–9300.
